the antimba

Making a bit of space and time
to write and rethink
how to do life

If you want to ...

  • stop pretending that mastery is possible, busy-ness is satisfying, and life can be hacked

  • get out of your head and work out what you actually think

  • find some others to tell you what they see

... then you may want to join us.

What we do

We spend four weeks at a time reading, writing, and thinking about a word.*

We use the word to think about:

  • where we are

  • how we got here

  • how things might be different

  • what to do next

We meet in real time on the third Thursday of the session to chew the fat.

We take a week off between sessions.

* One of the big, gnarly ones, which we take for granted and don’t even think about, even though it’s here, there, and everywhere. A word like: body, culture, life, mind, nature, other, self, space, time, work, world.

How we do it

We read.

  • The week starts on Sunday, with a brief prompt, and a few longer pieces, if you've got the time.

We write.

  • We post something by the end of Saturday, to show each other where we are.

We comment.

  • We provide feedback on three other posts by the end of Monday, to tell each other what we see.

We gather.

  • We meet just over halfway through each session, to see how far we've come and where we're going.

How it helps

We realize how our lives are ruled by things we haven’t even thought about.

We explore other ways of thinking about these things.

We see what can change when we start thinking about things differently.

The next month-long sessions of the antimba will run as follows

  • Session 6
          word: truth
          dates: 2025/03/16-04/12
          meetup: 04/03, 1900-2100 ET

One session is $120, with discounts for those who've been with us before.

Places are limited. If you’d like to join us, please click on the following link and fill in the form.

We’ll be in touch within a couple of (working) days, letting you know if you’re in, and how to pay.

Thank you!
